Amazon Filters cartridges are used by the world’s leading drinks manufacturers at every stage of the process to help ensure they supply high quality products.
Typical applications include raw water filtration, de-chlorination, product/ingredient clarification, control of spoilage microorganisms and removal of infectious agents such as Cryptosporidium. Amazon has a range of filter products that can provide the ideal solution to your process requirements.
Dekkera bruxellensis (also known as Brettanomyces) has been gaining more and more attention in the Food and Beverage and Eco-fuel industries as this yeast is considered to be one of the main spoilage organisms found in the production of wine and bioethanol.
Recent studies by a European Government laboratory specialising in research for the wine industry, has evaluated the performance of Amazon Filters SupaPore FPW and SupaPore VPW filters and found them to be very effective in removing this micro-organism.
Having evaluated a range of products they found that:
- SupaPore VPW 45, 0.65 and 1.0 micron rated cartridges exhibit a typical Log Reduction Value (LRV) of >11 per 10” cartridge when challenged with 107/cm2 of Dekkera bruxellensis/Brettanomyces.
- SupaPore FPW 00X grade cartridges exhibit a typical Log Reduction Value (LRV) of >10 per 10” cartridge when challenged with 107/cm2 of Dekkera Bruxellensis/Brettanomyces.
Therefore these products can be a valuable tool for wine makers and bottlers, and bioethanol producers as they develop strategies to avoid the detrimental effects of Dekkera contamination.
