The Role
We are now seeking a Design Engineer to join our fast-paced, busy and diverse Design Team. Reporting to the Housing Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be working as a prominent member of the design team and working closely with all departments. The candidate will be responsible for preparing calculations and designing filter vessels based on PD5500; EN and ASME codes of practice. A key element of this exciting position is the production of contract specific product designs using PTC Creo 4.0 3D CAD software; ensuring designs meet PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) regulations.
You will be working as part of a team in a friendly and busy environment, so we are looking for motivated people who take pride in their work. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing calculations and designing of all vessels based on PD5500; EN and ASME codes of practice.
- Making a selection of suitable weld types and preparation details.
- Ensuring that designs meet the requirements of the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) and Pressure Equipment (Safety) regulations.
- Designing vessels and components using Creo 3D CAD software.
- Operating the ISO 9001 control and conformance of design department function, issue control and drawing register
- Interacting and communicating with other teams for cost effective and practical vessel design and the improvement of the products.
- Producing innovative and novel new product designs, and to assist in the development of existing products.
- Producing manufacturing drawings for new and existing products and run ongoing product evaluation and development projects.
- Project managing contracts as allocated, and co-ordinate to completion. This involves progress, inspection, testing and check visits to sub-contractor sites.
- Assisting in developing the use of existing design tools to reduce costs and improved lead times within the department
The Candidate
The successful candidate will find this an interesting and challenging position and should have:
- HNC or above in Engineering or equivalent experience (i.e. a time served apprentice)
- Computer literate
- Experience of working in an engineering environment
- Drawing/draughtsman experience
- 3D parametric CAD system experience
- Pressure vessel experience and pressure vessel code experience
- Experience of basic mechanical and design principles
- Experience of working within a quality system
