CNC Programmer-Operator

Housing Component Manufacturing| Full time | Salary £34,000 - £41,000

The Role

We are now seeking a new CNC Programmer-Operator to join our busy and friendly team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating existing CNC machines as well as carrying out development work on new jobs and creating new programs using FANUC Control System. Some of the tasks candidate will be required to undertake are;

 

  • Follow relevant component product development process.
  • Development of machining programs for parts modelled on our CAD system, optimising set-up times, and run times to give efficiency and best cost
  • Appropriate tooling identification and selection (considering appropriate materials and cutting parameters)
  • Setting of machines and materials to run programmes as written above
  • Machine operation to manufacture components (VMC, Mill turn and Manual machines)
  • Machine set-up/programme adjustments as appropriate
  • Maintain component quality standards
  • Production machining
  • Programme validation - Maintaining records of programming, set-up and run times (for others to feed into our ERP system)
  • Mentoring/training of new Operators
  • Costing/estimation for future projects
  • Liaison with Design regarding existing parts improvement and new parts ‘Design for manufacture’
  • Product cost improvement programme
  • Monitoring of scrap and reduction programme if necessary

The Candidate

The successful candidate will find this an interesting and challenging position and should have:

  • HNC or equivalent (evidence i.e. certificates)
  • Experience of programming using Fanuc control system (30 series – Minimum of 3 years)
  • Experience of offline programming CAD CAM development (Desirable)
  • Apprenticeship (Desirable)
  • Experience in programming and operating a 3 axis Vertical Machining centre 4th & 5th axis experience (Desirable)
  • Experience of using Feature CAM or similar (Desirable)
  • Experience in programming and operating mill turn with X, Z & C axis (Desirable)
  • Experience of 4th axis, sub spindle and bar feeder (Desirable)
  • Team player with good collaboration skills
  • Good verbal communication
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Quality focussed with good attention to detail and excellent accuracy
  • Organised and efficient
  • Ability to work on own initiative
