The purpose of WRAS is to contribute to the protection of public health by preventing contamination of public water supplies and encouraging the efficient use of water by promoting and facilitating compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws.
Any water fitting (including Side Stream water filters), which when installed, carry or receive water from the public mains water supply in the UK, must comply with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (or Scottish Byelaws). These require that a water fitting/filter should not cause waste, misuse, undue consumption or contamination of the water supply and must be ‘of an appropriate quality and standard’.
WRAS Approval is therefore, the way to demonstrate compliance – as it is granted directly by representatives of the water suppliers and is therefore accepted by every water supplier in the UK.
Amazon Filters has invested time and effort to ensure its Amazon’s Filters Cartridges and Housings are compliant with WRAS standards.
Many filter suppliers offer non-compliant filters for critical Building Services applications. Owners and occupiers of all premises – and anyone who installs plumbing systems or water fittings/filters – have a legal duty to ensure that the systems satisfy the regulations. It is illegal to install fittings and Side Stream filters that do not meet the standards.
By receiving and maintaining WRAS approval, Amazon Filters provides its Clients with reassurance that Amazon’s knowledge, understanding and compliancy to this industry are fully comprehensive.
Amazon Filters is a leading manufacturer of filtration systems for water treatment applications and has unrivalled expertise in providing Side Stream systems for Closed Loop water circuits operated within buildings.
WRAS Approval has been granted for Amazon Filters’ SupaGard and SupaSpun II meltblown depth Filter Cartridges and for a range of Filter Housings. These product ranges are listed on the WRAS directory of approved products. These filter products are therefore, the preferred choice for those designing, installing and operating building water systems.
