Amazon Filters Supports Aid Run to Guinea-Bissau

9th Jan 2012

Amazon Filters is supporting a local endeavour to provide medical and educational support for the impoverished country of Guinea-Bissau. This country on the west coast of Africa is recognised as one of the poorest countries in the world so this is a very worthwhile (and some may say also foolish!) project.
Amazon Director of Sales Jeff Kirby and his son Louis (aka Wally and Dick) will be driving ‘Debra The Zebra’, a modified Land Rover, on the 6000+ mile journey from Hampshire to Guinea-Bissau . ‘Debra The Zebra’ has been ‘enhanced’ with a new paint job and the addition of a bolted central wooden structure which will act as a cupboard by day; and a platform for a bed by night. Both Jeff and Louis are six foot plus, so they are going to share a cosy couple of weeks on the road in their Land Rover/ ‘two star mobile hotel’.The adventure will take 19 days and include partcipation in the Budapest-Bamako run which finishes in Guinea-Bissau. On reaching the destination the intreped duo will make a gift of the Land Rover to the local people and deliver much needed school supplies and basic medical products. Information on the project to support local schools can be found by clicking here.
Amazon Filters is proud to support Jeff, Louis and the people of Guinea-Bissau. You can follow Wally and Dick's blog and find more information on this adventure by clicking here.
