AMAZON SUPPORTS LOCAL HOSPICE
Amazon Filters has been very active in supporting the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham with a special emphasis on being ‘active’. On Sunday 10th October two teams from Amazon entered the ‘Beat the Best’ competition, which involved a gruelling 5 km obstacle course at the Army’s Eelmoor Training Area. The teams faced an array of challenges including pushing a Land Rover, carrying logs and wading through shoulder high water. Competition between the two teams was fierce (although the training before hand was not taken quite as seriously) and the team from the office secured bragging rights over the team from manufacturing with a time of 32 minutes and 6 seconds.

In their defence the manufacturing team claimed they were bound to be more tired at the weekend as they work harder during the week. Both teams were well supported by their colleagues from Amazon who were on hand to offer lots of encouragement and take lots of embarrassing photos.

There also appeared to be a competition for the most inappropriate clothing between Haydn in his jeans and walking boots and Jeff with his brilliant white shirt looking like an advert for Persil. The first deep muddy water obstacle highlighted the errors of their ways.
Although some of the competitors felt a bit stiff on Monday, their efforts and generous sponsorship by families, friends and Amazon Filters resulted in over £1000 being donated to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. More information on the Hospice can be found at www.pth.org.uk
